Penn State Students Gather for Taco Bell Vigil
After Taco Bell on College Avenue closed suddenly on Wednesday, students were very upset and started a petition on Facebook that got over 600 signatures according to the Daily Collegian. On Sunday night, at around 8 p.m. a vigil was held outside the closed restaurant. Students gathered around by lighting candles, placing flowers and singing songs in remembrance.
Senior Prajesh Patel was the organizer of the vigil.
“I created the vigil event I knew that Taco Bell closing would affect a lot of people,” Patel said. “I think this would bring the State College community together.” Patel and his friends would go to Taco Bell every Friday and his go to meal was the Mexican pizza with the Cheesy Gordita Crunch.
Patel expected that 83 students would attend the vigil, but based on the large crowd outside the property, it seemed like there were many more.
