Top Games in College Football Week 2

College football is finally back. Week 1 did not disappoint, with some very impressive performances on both sides of the ball.

One team that looks to repeat its offensive success in Week 2 is No. 3 Ohio State, as it faces off against No. 12 Oregon.

In their first game the Buckeyes put up 201 rushing yards, led by their starting running back, redshirt freshman Miyan Williams. Williams contributed 125 yards on nine carries with one touchdown.

Redshirt freshman quarterback CJ Stroud’s performance was nothing short of spectacular, as he completed 59% of his passes, throwing for 294 yards and four touchdowns. His main target Chris Olave, a true senior, racked up an impressive four receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns.

As good as the Buckeyes looked, they have their hands full this week with a fast-paced Duck defense that had three takeaways in their matchup against unranked Fresno State on Sept. 4.

The Ducks started off with a great defensive performance by forcing two fumbles in the first half, which set up their offense in great scoring position.

Although the Ducks offense struggled, a late game rushing touchdown by senior quarterback Anthony Brown gave them some life.

If the Ducks want to win this game, Brown needs to have an outstanding performance in the air and on the ground against an Ohio State defense that struggled to contain the quarterback in Week 1. Expect Ohio State to dominate the pass game and come out with a win.

A well-anticipated top-ten matchup set to kick off late afternoon on Saturday is No. 10 Iowa vs. No. 9 Iowa State.

Both offensive lines gave solid protection in Week 1, and both teams are fighting to remain ranked in the top ten.
Iowa looks to play the long game by having a bend don’t break defensive strategy.

Look out for junior Hawkeye Spencer Petras to locate his playmaking junior tight end, Sam LaPorta, on third-down plays and red zone opportunities.

Iowa State senior quarterback Brock Purdy looks to find the endzone through the air after completing an impressive 80% of his 26 passes for 199 yards.

The lethal weapon of this offense seems to be junior running back Breece Hall. Even though Hall didn’t rush for more than 69 yards, he found the endzone and showed serious patience and great vision as a ball carrier.

If Hall finds his stride and the Cyclones protect the ball against a strong Iowa defense, expect a win for Iowa State.

One game flying under the radar in Week 2 is the matchup between Missouri and Kentucky. Will Levis, junior graduate transfer for Kentucky, looks to improve upon his Week 1 performance of 367 yards passing and four touchdowns.

While Missouri’s senior running back Tyler Badie tries to match the 203 yards and one touchdown he rushed for on Sept. 4. This game has the potential to be the most exciting game of the week, and the Wildcats could come out with a win.

Overall, a very exciting week to look forward to in the world of college football.
