White Loop Not Returning for Spring Semester, Students React

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Transportation Services stated that the CATA bus had the Blue Loop, Red Link and Green Link return to full service on Monday, Feb. 15. The campus shuttle via Beaver Ave also returned to regular service.

However, the White Loop was not brought back, and many students wondered why.

Kaitlin Jean-Noel is a junior majoring in public relations, and she wasn’t happy with the decision to omit the White Loop’s services this spring.

“CATA isn’t bringing the White Loop back with what I expect to be more students back in State College,” Jean-Noel said. “One less route removes the accessibility and can possibly make the other buses more crowded. I wish they would just add some periodic cleaning schedule and continue to bus all the same routes while still following COVID guidelines”.

Genesis Severino-Ellis is a sophomore majoring in public relations and spanish. She understands the decision to not have the White Loop return to service.

“The White Loop not running is quite efficient to [mitigate] the pandemic,” Severino-Ellis said. “It may be a minor inconvenience for students here though because it just means that in order to get to certain destinations, they would either have to walk or take the Red or Green Link”.
