Nestled back in Hamilton Square off of South Atherton Street is Good Day Café. The café opened in August of 2018 as a part of Strawberry Fields Inc. and has been booming with business ever since. However, Good Day Café is not just any café. It is a workplace that is breaking the stigma that surrounds people in workplaces with mental health disabilities.

Good Day Café employs people with intellectual disabilities with its goal being to better the lives of its employees and customers as well. “Good Day Café is a place to come to feel good,” said Employee Development and coffee shop supervisor Fran McDermid.

After being inspired by coffee shop, Bitty and Beau’s in Wilmington, North Carolina and various other locations, Good Day Café was born. Shop hours are 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
