“Shang-Chi” Trailer Breakdown

Story posted April 23, 2021 in Arts & Entertainment by Colton Pleslusky.

After an extended wait, Marvel Studios has finally released the trailer for the upcoming movie “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.”

Following multiple delays from its original release date of February 12th, “Shang-Chi” is currently slated to launch on the 3rd of September and it appears the hype train of trailer releases and promotion has begun.

Analyzing the new trailer, it appears Shang-Chi was raised amongst the Ten Rings, a faction originally introduced in the first “Iron Man.” On the same note, the audience may finally be seeing the real Mandarin behind the Ten Rings, a contrast to the false Mandarin in “Iron Man 3.”

The trailer is filled with a certain wonder. It showcases briefly some of the fight scenes the audience can look forward to with characters elegantly maneuvering the scenario they’re fighting in.

With Shang-Chi being the “Master of Kung Fu” in the comics, it could be a nice change of pace compared to the fighting styles of other prime heroes in the “MCU.”

There is also a masked warrior, known as the Death Dealer, that seems to be hunting Shang-Chi - possibly an assassin sent to either claim him so he can “assume his place” or to remove him from the equation entirely due to his resistance, made evident by the trailer.

Additionally, there is the introduction of Razor Fist, who in the comics had razors attached to his hands. In the trailer, this has been recreated with the presence of glowing blades at the ends of his forearms.

For now, that rounds out the current lineup of villains Shang-Chi has to face down in the movie.

Being the first trailer, it unveiled a lot of the mystery behind “Shang-Chi and Legend of the Ten Rings,” and provides a good base for what to expect when the movie finally launches in the fall.
