In The Game’s Dale Ostrander introduces you to a local wrestler making a name by beating the boys. Jake Starr will take you to Johnstown where two rival football programs joined forces to save the season.
Zach Gershman brings you back to State College where a teenager shows off his talents on the sideline. Finally, Preston Shoemaker tells the story of a minor league baseball superfan battling a rare pain disorder.

Preston Shoemaker

Preston Shoemaker is a senior Bellisario Fellow from Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania and is majoring in broadcast journalism. He is a director, play-by-play broadcaster and writer for the CommRadio sports department. He is also an executive producer for the Centre County Report and the newly formed After the Whistle. Preston is the Broadcast Assistant for the Altoona Curve, Double-A Affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he serves as a play-by-play broadcaster and works with media relations. Jake Starr
Senior / Broadcast Journalism
Jake Starr is a soon-to-be graduate from Penn State. He has spent the last year and a half as the general manager of CommRadio, where he helped oversee all seven departments and over 200 members. Prior to that, Jake worked as the station’s news director. In addition, he is a play-by-play broadcaster with experience calling nine sports across various outlets. In addition to calling games for CommRadio, Jake has called games for Big Ten Plus and ESPN+ for Bucknell University. For the last two summers, he has worked in summer collegiate baseball. Most recently, Jake served as a broadcaster for the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Dale Ostrander is a Junior from Parish, New York majoring in broadcast journalism at Penn State and a minor in Sports Studies. He is a play-by-play announcer for the CommRadio sports department. Zach Gershman
Junior / Broadcast Journalism
Zach Gershman is a Junior from the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, majoring in broadcast journalism. He is the host of his own YouTube channel ZachOnSports, where he interviews sports and media industry leaders including Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Costas, Fox Sports reporter Tom Rinaldi, the voice of the NHL Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick, and many others. Zach is also a part-time producer at ESPN Radio 103.7 and 1450 AM in State College, Pennsylvania. At Penn State, he is a production assistant for Penn State Athletics, a producer of Penn State Sports Night, director of marketing for the Penn State Sports Business Conference, and a news anchor for PSN News.

I am a senior at the Pennsylvania State University. As a Philadelphia native, I am currently studying broadcast journalism with a minor in African-American studies. While I continue my journey as an aspiring on-air personality, I plan to pursue my career in the entertainment industry.
