Justin Bieber – “Justice” Review

Story posted March 23, 2021 in

Justin Bieber’s sixth studio album “Justice” dropped on Friday and just quite matched the anticipation behind it.

“Justice” is a traditional pop album where Bieber keeps the focus of his lyrics on his love, Hailer Bieber, and how she has made him a better person.

“Justice” is full of songs that come straight from the heart of Bieber. One song in particular, “Unstable,” is a powerful song that talks about how his wife, Hailey Bieber, was able to help him work through all of his mental health issues.

The majority of the songs on the album, while filled with emotion, are pretty simple lyrically with rhymes about how he loves his wife. It gets old quick.

One song on “Justice” that easily stands out is the song “Peaches” with Daniel Caesar and Giveon. Peaches sounds totally different than every other song on the album from the production to the lyrics and to the features. “Peaches” is a tropical song that has smartly crafted rhymes in the style of word play with the beautiful voice of Caesar to serenade you as well. The sounds of the beat make you feel as if you’re on an island sipping a Piña Colada.

Bieber keeps the pacing a little slower on this album as he’s singing a lot of slower love songs. He has songs that pick up the pace a little bit, but for the most part it is slowed down and Bieber is putting his vocal talent on display.

One thing Bieber does really well on “Justice” is the song order as it keeps the pace from being too slow — with slow songs next to each other and faster paced one’s sprinkled in between.

Another thing Bieber succeeds in on “Justice” was grabbing features that aren’t just good verses but appropriately fit the tone of the album. With Khalid on “As I Am” Chance the Rapper on “Holy,” The Kid LAROI on “Unstable” and Daniel Caesar on “Peaches,” most of the features really kill it and are responsible for the better songs on the album.

Although there are a handful of good features on “Justice,” the features being responsible for the better songs ends up backfiring a little bit on Bieber since it seems they pull the weight of the album.

“Justice” isn’t a bad album as it’s full of heart and talent. Bieber is vulnerable and his voice shines on pretty much every verse on the album. Where he really digs himself a hole is he only makes cheesy love songs.

“2 Much,” “Off My Face,” “Somebody,” “Ghost,” “Love You Different,” “Loved By You” and “Anyone” are all incredibly similar to each other. All of these songs have really similar production and very average lyrics about how much he loves Hailey Bieber. Again, it gets really old really quick.

Bieber really is one of the G.O.A.T.’s of this generation and hardly anyone has been able to do what he has done. He’s constantly been in and out of trouble while making millions and retaining his fans.

“Justice” does have a theme about how he is being the best person he can be these days and his wife Hailey plays a large part in that. The album is really sweet and personal but falls a little short on delivering hits and diversity.
