Best Commercials Of Super Bowl LVI

Story posted February 14, 2022 in CommRadio, Sports by Matthew Gelhard

The Super Bowl continues to be one of the most entertaining events across the globe. It seems as if the whole world revolves around it and lives are planned out so that undivided attention can be given at kickoff.

Although the battle on the gridiron was see must-tv, it was impossible to get out of your seat because we were all waiting for the star-studded lineup. Believe it or not, the lineup I’m talking about wasn’t Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre although that lineup was spectacular.

The lineup that I’m talking about is Pringles, Busch, E*TRADE, Doritos and many others. The combination of football, performance and advertisements made Super Bowl LVI one that had little reason to walk away from.

Pringles – “Stuck In”

Getting a can of pringles stuck on your hand has a lot of negative connotations around it, but Pringles was able to find a way to make it a part of that man’s life just how they want pringles to be a part of our lives.

This can be a metaphor for consumerism, but we aren’t going to go there. Although the storyline of this commercial was quite comical, I will forever have an unconscious fear of lodging my hand in a pringles can.

I’ll just pour them out, it’s not worth the risk.

NFL – “Bring Down the House Commercial”

Longer commercials are usually hit or miss, but this commercial deserved all the time allotted. It gave you a lot of stimuli as the “play” was hectic and had something for everyone.

The commentary and the setting were just two of the many things that the commercial did to bring the animated characters to life.

All that mess in the house is going to be a lot to clean up, but I’m glad that Meemaw was okay.

Coinbase – “Less Talk, More Crypto”

To believe that the most talked-about commercial in the year 2022 was going to be a QR code that bounced around the screen like the DVD symbol did decades before is mind-blowing.

So much technology and science to create masterpieces and this stroke of genius got people to pull out their QR readers or celebrate the moment when the symbol hit the corner of the television exactly.

This commercial caused massive destruction and overload to Coinbase services but got the job done.

Meta Quest 2 – “Old Friends. New Fun.”

This one played with your heartstrings from the beginning as the setting depicted at the beginning of the commercial (reminded me of Chuck-e-Cheese) went from a fun place to being torn down.

With each destination the dog reached, you were kept engaged and when those goggles were put on fans were overjoyed.

Say what you want about the metaverse, but this commercial gave a great depiction of what it could do.

Irish Spring – “Welcome to Irish Spring”

They were trying to scare people with commercials this year as we almost watched an average joe like you and me get sacrificed in a random village led by a talking bunny rabbit.

The whole plot reflects one big nightmare you might’ve had when you were growing up. Getting past that part, the commercial made itself memorable.
