Hockey Valley will sit dormant no more.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Big Ten Conference announced that it will begin the 2020-21 men’s hockey season as early as Nov. 13, 2020.

Each team will play a 24-game conference schedule, as well as four games per team against Arizona State, according to GoPSUsports. All games against Arizona State will be hosted at Big Ten arenas.

“We are thankful to the Big Ten and each individual university for the sacrifices they’ve made to allow our hockey season to begin this semester,” Penn State head coach Guy Gadowsky told GoPSUsports in a press release. “We have been working extremely hard within Penn State’s safety protocols since returning to campus and are looking forward to getting back to competition come mid-November.”

The 2020-21 schedule will finish with the Big Ten tournament between March 18 and March 20, 2021. The tournament will be in a single-elimination format with three games on March 18, two games on March 19 and the championship game on March 20.

Teams will follow medical protocols outlined by the Big Ten Return to Competition Task Force, which includes daily antigen testing and cardiac screening.

“As our teams return to competition, we will continue to keep the health and safety of our student-athletes at the forefront of our decisions,” commissioner Kevin Warren said.

In the coming weeks, the Big Ten will release the full 2020-21 Big Ten hockey schedule.
