College Football Game Picks: Week 7

Story posted October 14, 2021 in CommRadio, Sports by Ethan Ellis

Game of the Week: No. 11 Kentucky at No. 1 Georgia

Two undefeated SEC teams will meet in Georgia to battle it out in what will more than likely be the game of the week. Kentucky is having an uncharacteristically good season, going 6-0 for the first time in decades, but all these wins were against unranked teams.

The big question will be if they can overcome Georgia’s dominant defense that has allowed only 5.5 points per game.

Prediction: Georgia 35, Kentucky 10

No. 12 Oklahoma State at No. 25 Texas

Another top-25 showdown features Oklahoma State, who is coming off of two Top-25 wins over Baylor and Kansas State and are undefeated this season. Texas, meanwhile, is coming off a heartbreaking loss to No. 6 Oklahoma and is 4-2.

In the end, it’s going to be Texas’ stellar offense that gets the job done.

Prediction: Texas 42, Oklahoma State 38

No. 13 Ole Miss at Tennessee

Here’s another SEC matchup that promises to be entertaining at the least.

Ole Miss is fresh off a win over No. 13 Arkansas and only has one loss to Alabama, who was No. 1 at the time. Tennessee, meanwhile, is 4-2 and is coming in hot on a two-game win streak.

In the end, Heisman contender Matt Corral is going to be the deciding factor in how this game goes. If he continues the impressive performances we’ve seen out of him all season, then Ole Miss should be able to put this game away.

Prediction: Ole Miss 56, Tennessee 45

No. 5 Alabama at Mississippi State

Alabama is coming off a stunning upset by Texas A&M, but looks to rebound in this game.

Heisman favorite Bryce Young has been a dominant leader on this offense and has led to high scoring games for Alabama. Mississippi State, on the other hand, does not have the explosive, high scoring offense of their opponent and could struggle on Saturday.

As long as the Crimson Tide don’t let the upset phase them, they should be able to win this game pretty easily.

Prediction: Alabama 40, Mississippi State 21

Auburn at Arkansas

Despite being unranked, Auburn is not that bad, with its only two losses on the season coming from two top ten teams. They have a solid offense that is capable of winning games.

Arkansas, meanwhile, is trying to recover from a close loss to No. 17 Ole Miss and looks to use this game a rebound.
Look for the offenses to be the important factor in this game as both have almost the same average in points per game.

This will most certainly be a toss-up game that will be fun to watch.

Prediction: Auburn 34, Arkansas 31

Underrated Game of the Week: No. 18 Arizona State at Utah

Utah might be 3-2, but those two losses did come at the hands of top-25 teams. Arizona State’s one loss on the season also came to a top-25 team and has a defense that doesn’t get the credit it should.

These offenses are almost evenly matched in that they score almost the same number of points per game.

In the end, Arizona State’s defense will get the best of Utah, but the game will still be entertaining and will have fans on the edge of their seats all the way down the end.

Prediction: Arizona State 20, Utah 17
