College Football Recap: Week 4
Another fun week of college football is in the books.
There weren’t a lot of ranked games, but the game we got provided some excitement on week three.
The most anticipated game of the weekend provided a shot at redemption for the Texas A&M Aggies.
At home, the No. 24 Aggies hosted the No. 13 Miami Hurricanes and came away with a big win.
By big, I don’t mean high scoring as it was a defensive battle in a 17-9 win despite the Hurricanes getting well over 100 yards more than their counterparts.
The other ranked matchup this week was another upset as the No. 25 Oregon Ducks defeated a once-surging No. 12 BYU Cougars.
Bo Nix balled out in the 41-20 win for the Ducks with 222 yards and five total touchdowns with three coming on the ground.
In terms of big upsets this week, only one stood out amongst the rest with No. 11 Michigan State falling to Washington on the road.
Indiana-transfer Michael Penix Jr. led the way in the upset with a monster performance of 397 passing yards and four touchdowns.
That win propelled the Huskies into the top-25 headed into week four.
There wasn’t much movement at the top of those rankings with all top seven teams easily taking care of business in their respective games.
Most notably, the top ranked Georgia Bulldogs took down South Carolina led by former Oklahoma Sooner quarterback Spencer Rattler.
Rattler has struggled in his first few appearances as a Gamecock and that remained true against one of the top defenses in the country as he threw two interceptions and just 118 passing yards.
There were a few close calls this past weekend with both Arkansas and Florida struggling in their matchups.
Arkansas won by just 11 points against Missouri State while Florida won by just a field goal against in-state opponent South Florida.
The Florida game saw Anthony Richardson, who was once seen as an early Heisman contender, struggle once again with just 112 passing yards with two interceptions and almost nothing on the ground.
Last week was an exciting one and that should carry over into week four of play.
