Everyone Deserves a Chance

Jonna Berlanger, a kinesiology professor at Penn State University has a very interesting topic she loves to teach her students. Disability sports is what she is passionate about and loves educating others on.

Berlanger got her start with disability sport from a family member who was in a brain and spinal injury hospital and there is where she saw others get told they may never be able to participate in sports again. Hearing those words and seeing the patients reactions made her want to learn more about disability sport.

She got involved in the Paralympics and is currently a classifier for track and field. She hopes that her students and peers go out and educate others on disability sport and how it is a useful tool for people with disabilities to realize they can still participate in a sport even with a disability.
