Fantasy Football Breakdown: Week 10

Audio/Story posted November 12, 2020 in Sports, CommRadio by Logan Bourandas

Host Jon Draeger and analysts Logan Bourandas, Aidan Torok and Sam Kirk take a look at Week 10 in the NFL from a fantasy football perspective.

Players to Start This Week:

Jared Goff, QB, Los Angeles Rams

The Seahawks, even with new edition Carlos Dunlap and Jamal Adams back from injury, proved they can’t stop anyone defensively. Josh Allen and the Bills came into last week struggling on offense, but against the Seahawks, Allen put up over 400 passing yards and three touchdowns. Expect close to similar numbers from Goff coming off a bye week.

Brandon Aiyuk, WR, San Francisco 49ers

Aiyuk missed last week’s game against the Packers, as he was put on the COVID-19 list, but he comes off the list looking like the best offensive option for the 49ers. Top options George Kittle and Raheem Mostert are out for a while, and Aiyuk put up over 17 fantasy points in each of his last two games. He should see a lot of touches against a Saints team bound to go up a few possessions this week.

Players to Sit This Week:

Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit Lions

Not much has gone right for Stafford recently. He was placed on the COVID-19 list early last week and was taken off the list a few days before the Lions’ game against the Vikings. With no time to practice with the team, Stafford struggled and left the game early with a possible concussion. Now this week, Stafford and the Lions face a surprisingly good Washington defense which ranks in the top five in yards allowed.

Mike Davis, RB, Carolina Panthers

Just like that, Mike Davis retakes the starting running back role after another injury to Christian McCaffrey. But Davis will face a tough Buccaneers defense looking to right the ship after a tough blowout loss against the Saints. Although these teams played in Week 2, Davis had only one carry in the game, as McCaffrey was still the starter. Even in the Bucs’ blowout loss last week, the defense held Saints star Alvin Kamara to only 40 rushing yards, so it will be a tough matchup for Davis.

Waiver Wire Pickup:

Richie James, WR, San Francisco 49ers

James came into last week’s matchup against the Packers as an unknown receiver just activated off injured reserve. He took advantage of injuries to key 49ers skill players for a nine-catch, 184-yards, one-touchdown day, as he emerged as Nick Mullens’ favorite target. While his long-term role is relatively unknown at this point, he is worth a pickup but most likely not a start this week.

Breshad Perriman, WR, New York Jets

Perriman has been on and off the field due to injuries in his first year with the Jets, but on Monday night against the Patriots, he finally showed his ability to be a deep-threat receiver. Perriman finished the game with five catches, 101 yards and two touchdowns playing alongside fellow former Baltimore Raven Joe Flacco.
