Mike Miller - Bloomington Herald Times - Sees Championship Potential in Indiana
INTERVIEW:
The Penn State Nittany Lions (11-12, 2-8 B1G) and the Indiana Hoosiers (19-4, 9-1 B1G) face off at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Bryce Jordan Center.
Penn State is coming off a loss in their last game to the Iowa Hawkeyes, with Indiana coming off a win against Michigan in their last game.
“It was all kind of building to that point the other night against Michigan,” said Mike Miller of the Bloomington Herald Times. “It’s a major win for this team just to boost their profile; prove they can win on the road against a pretty quality Michigan team.”
Indiana is currently atop the Big Ten conference but is not publicly getting as much recognition nationally as Iowa, Maryland and others in the conference.
Led by senior guard Yogi Ferrell, Indiana is hoping to make a deep tournament run for Ferrell in his final act.
“They all really want to go out with a bang with Yogi Ferrell; I mean he certainly wants to lead them to that point,” said Miller.
Penn State will continue to rely on the senior leadership of Brandon Taylor and hope for a second contributor to come to light during the game.
“With Indiana, you can’t beat them with just one guy. You need at least two. If Shep Garner shows up, that would certainly help,” said Miller.
Miller expects Indiana to come away with a victory by about 8 points in Happy Valley, setting them up for critical games next week against Iowa and Michigan State.
