Penn State in the NFL: Week 13 Edition
It was another strong week for former Penn Staters in the NFL as we are now 13 weeks in.
Let’s take a look at who shined brightest this past weekend.
Jahan Dotson, WR, Washington Commanders
Dotson returned to the Commanders lineup back in Week 10 but he had his first impact performance since his return last week against the New York Giants.
In the tie, Dotson corralled five passes for 54 yards and a touchdown.
That score was his first since Week 4 of this season, which was also his last game before his hamstring injury.
The touchdown was a timely one too, helping to tie the game up at 20 late in the fourth quarter which would eventually hold as the final score.
His five catches were a career high for him as he was third on the team in that category.
Saquon Barkley, RB, New York Giants
Let’s stay in the same game.
Thanks to Daniel Jones, Barkley didn’t lead the Giants in rushing last week but he still finished with 63 yards and a touchdown.
This was Barkley’s second straight week with a score and he now has eight on the season.
Barkley also hit the 1,000 yard mark this weekend, now sitting with 1,055 rushing yards this season as he hit the milestone for the third time of his career and for the first time since 2019.
Pat Freiermuth, TE, Pittsburgh Steelers
Going back to pass catchers, Freiermuth made his impact felt in a close win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Freiermuth led his team in receiving yards with 76 on three catches.
That included a huge 57-yard catch and run which was the longest of his career.
Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Godwin has turned into a receptions magnet as of late, and he did so again in the Buccaneers comeback win against the New Orleans Saints.
Despite a low-scoring affair, Godwin still managed to catch eight passes for 63 yards.
It was the ninth-consecutive week where Godwin caught six passes or more as he’s become the primary option in Tampa Bay.
Carl Nassib, LB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Closing things out on the defensive side, Nassib made some big time plays in that same game.
Nassib came away with two tackles, a sack and a pass deflection in the Buccaneers’ win.
The linebacker now has 3.5 sacks on the season as Nassib last picked up a sack in Week 6 against the Steelers.
