Penn State’s ‘Movin’ On’ Set To Return in 2022
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State’s annual music festival, Movin’ On, makes a return back to the IM fields this upcoming spring for the first time since 2019.
This year marks the event's 45th year as one of the largest student-run music festivals in the United States. Movin’ On is free to Penn State students aged 18+, and serves as a day of fun music and community engagement.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced the event to cancel in 2020, and then become virtual in 2021.
Fourth-year Maddy Veisman was a first-year when the event was last held in person, and said it was such a fun event to go to with her friends.
“It was a great way to end the year right before finals week,” Veisman said (fourth-year - media studies). “I think it’s a great way for the freshman to make even more friends before they don’t live in a confined area anymore, because the event is right next to East Halls.”
In the past, Movin’ On has featured popular artists such as Big Sean, A$AP Ferg, Ludacris, All Time Low, T-Pain, Wiz Khalifa and Fall Out Boy.
Although Movin’ On has not yet announced who will be performing this year, the executive board is super excited to finally bring everything back in person.
Student Programming Association (SPA) Liaison, Elizabeth Thompson, shares that they have been preparing for the event since August.
“I hope it’s a really big turnout because there are people who haven’t been able to attend,” Thompson (third-year - telecommunications) said. “I feel like it could be a new experience for a lot of people.”
The official date for the event has yet to be announced. Movin’ On will continue to update the Penn State community as more information becomes readily available.
