UPDATE: PJ Mustipher Out for Season; Franklin Declines to Comment on Sean Clifford Status

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The one thing surrounding every Penn State fan’s mind - the health of quarterback Sean Clifford - was not addressed at the team’s practice Wednesday at Holuba Hall.

Head coach James Franklin refused to reveal if Clifford would be good to go or not for the Nittany Lions’ homecoming game against Illinois after their bye week.

If Clifford is unable to go, either Ta'Quan Roberson or Christian Veilleux will get the nod, as Franklin acknowledged both are competing in practice.

The redshirt sophomore made just seven completions on 21 attempts with two interceptions after he played the entire second half at Kinnick Stadium last Saturday.

Regardless of the quarterback situation, Franklin is excited to get back in front of the home crowd after the team’s first loss of the season.

Defensive lineman PJ Mustipher is done for the season, according to Franklin.

Mustipher, who was injured in the first half of Saturday’s game against Iowa, came back to the sideline on crutches and won’t suit back up for the Nittany Lions this year.

Mustipher ended his season with 21 tackles, three of which came for a loss and one sack.
