Another Nittany Lion is off the board in the 2021 NFL Draft, and this time it’s guard Will Fries, who was taken with the No. 248 pick by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round.

The redshirt senior and former four-star recruit was a pivotal member of the offensive line in all four of his seasons in Happy Valley. He started in nine of the team’s 13 games in 2017 as a redshirt freshman and played mostly the tackle positions with one start at left guard.

The Cranford, New Jersey native then played in all 13 games in his sophomore season and started in 11, four at left tackle and seven at right tackle. In 2019 as a junior, Fries played all 13 games at right tackle and was an All-Big Ten honorable mention.

In his last season in 2020, Fries started all nine games and made his debut as a blocking tight end before earning second-team all-conference honors.

Fries will head to Indianapolis to help protect quarterback Carson Wentz as he begins his career as a pro.
