The Penn State women’s hockey team (7-20-2,1-13-2 CHA) concluded its season at home and at the Greenberg Ice Pavilion before moving to the new Pegula ice Arena next season. The Lindenwood Lady Lions (4-23-3, 4-9-3 CHA),  came into Saturday’s game with a win from Friday’s afternoon game.

“I’m proud of the adversity this team has battled through the weekend,” said Penn State head coach Josh Bradwene.

Penn State was forced down to five on three play two times in the second period and was able to kill off 6 out of 7 penalty kills throughout the afternoon.

“I’m very proud how are penalty kill played today,” Brandwene said. Penn State was also 1-4 on the power play themselves, with the lone goal coming from Jill Holdcroft for her tenth of the season."

“Jordan [Pardoski} took the shot from the point and it hit the post and I was there for the rebound, so it was a nice play,” said Holdcroft in the post-game press conference.

Nicole Paniccia was given the start for the Nittany Lions today for her second straight start. Paniccia stopped 44 shots on 47 attempts.

“If anyone has seen this team all year, we keep getting better and better, said Paniccia. "Just even this weekend I think we played a lot better than yesterday’s game. We’ll be able to build off this game.”

The Nittany Lions concluded their home season with a record of 4-9-2 overall. Brandwene went on to say how bitter sweet the move form Greenberg to Pavilion would be as Greenberg has a lot of memories for the coach.

“I got engaged here in this building at center ice, the move is like apples to oranges really, the ice arena looks absolutely amazing,” said Brandwene.

The Nittany Lions will continue their season on the road before the start of the CHA tournament on March first. They will hit the ice next on February 15, against RIT and conclude the season at Robert Morris.

“Crazy things can happen in the playoffs and I like how our team is playing right now,” said Brandwene.
