College Football Game Picks: Week 5

Story posted October 1, 2021 in CommRadio, Sports by Charlie Lebowitz

We’re set for a great Week 5 in college football, so let’s get right into it.

No. 5 Iowa (-3.5) at Maryland (8 p.m.)

Taulia Tagovailoa has been great so fat this season, but this Iowa defense is no joke. Iowa wins this game based on skill alone, but there’s reason to believe this feisty Terps team can pull off the upset.

Maryland 24, Iowa 20

No. 8 Arkansas at No. 2 Georgia (-18.5)

The Bulldogs are 3-1 ATS this season and have only allowed 23 points. The Razorbacks are 4-0 ATS and are coming off a thrilling win against Texas A&M. Arkansas will compete for all four quarters but fall short in the end.

Georgia 30, Arkansas 20

No. 14 Michigan at Wisconsin (-0.5)

Look what we have here… Another chance for Jim Harbaugh to let his fanbase down.

Michigan has not won at Wisconsin since 2001, and I expect this trend to continue. Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz has been pitiful thus far, only throwing for one touchdown in three games. But the Badgers still have a tough defense, and expect Mertz to step it up and manage the game well enough to pull off a narrow victory while Michigan falls short once again.

Wisconsin 24, Michigan 21

No. 7 Cincinnati (-2.5) at No. 9 Notre Dame (2:30 p.m.)

Desmond Ridder and Jerome Ford will prove why they are an elite duo in college football and they will win this game convincingly. Notre Dame was on the verge of losing to Wisconsin until they turned it up in the fourth quarter, but its efforts will not be enough against this hungry Cincinnati team.

Cincinnati 38, Notre Dame 24

No. 12 Ole Miss at No. 1 Alabama (-14.5)

This will be a high scoring affair, and it will be the best game of the week. As a college football fan what more could you ask for?

Bryce Young versus Matt Corral screams shootout, and Ole Miss will come ready for the challenge. Alabama is far and away the best team in the country, but if there is one team that has the offense to compete, it’s Ole Miss.

Despite Ole Miss getting an extra week of rest and preparation, Alabama still pulls out the victory.

Alabama 49, Ole Miss 34
