Eagles Season Review

The Philadelphia Eagles have been soaring high all season long and now are just one win away “on the road to victory” to becoming Super Bowl Champions.

But how impressive is that run?

All season, fans of opposing squads have criticized the Eagles for being the beneficiaries of an easy schedule.

Nevertheless, the birds flew out of the gates winning their first eight matchups in a row before a sloppy Monday night performance against the pedestrian Commanders.

That still stands as the only Eagles’ loss when Jalen Hurts started under center this season.

Of course, Philadelphia dropped two games in a row to finish with three losses, but those contests came while Hurts was held out with a shoulder injury suffered in Chicago.

While clearly not 100%, Hurts returned to earn the Eagles a win in the final regular season game to clinch the NFC East and the conference’s No. 1 overall seed.

Hurts has obviously been the star of this Philly offense and team as a whole.

The second-year starter put up 35 total touchdowns in the regular season including an impressive 13 rushing scores.

Former Penn State running back Miles Sanders led the Eagles’ backfield with over 1,000 rushing yards this season behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.

The best parts of this Eagles team are the offensive and defensive lines.

The birds' front seven nearly set an NFL record for sacks in the regular season and boasted four players with double-digit sacks.

Clearly, this has been one of the NFL’s best rosters all season long.

One would think the “easy schedule” talk would end in the playoffs. Every team strong enough to make it to the NFL’s knockout stages should pose a challenge.

However, the Eagles have made light work of the two teams they battled in the playoffs.

First, the divisional foe New York Giants marched into Lincoln Financial Field to the tune of a 38-7 smackdown.

Then, one of the NFL’s most talented rosters, the San Francisco 49ers, came to town where they were dismantled by a final score of 31-7.

The game saw both of the niners’ dressed quarterbacks go down due to injury and the Eagles' defense take advantage.

Now some NFL players are even calling the Eagles' march to the Super Bowl a cupcake.

49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk said that while he is not a betting man, he would bet on the Chiefs to expose what his team wanted to expose before their quarterback’s injury.

Surely a win over the AFC’s No.1 seeded Kansas City Chiefs would be seen as an honorable victory, or would it?

Recently named NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes has been dealing with a high ankle sprain since the divisional round of the playoffs.

Would Eagle haters use that as an excuse for why the birds might capture Super Bowl LVII?

Nevertheless, no one can take away the title of Super Bowl Champions, and the Eagles are one win away from that namesake.
