UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - What inspires you to be your true self? What motivates you to try things you never thought were possible?

These are the questions FLIP Fabrique asked the audience in their performance of “Muse” on Tuesday. A show that tackles gender stereotypes through circus style. Members of the State College community filled the Eisenhower Auditorium to watch the artists challenge gender roles.  Student Cassidy Kaess says the show inspired her to be herself.

“I think that anyone can be anything and it doesn’t matter like gender wise or age or anything,” Kaess said.

The show consisted of seven artists, each with their own specialties ranging from trapeze to trampoline. Professional Jump-Rope Artist, Kata Banhegyi says the show took over a month to create.

“We all bring our disciplines, but we need to learn other stuff as you can see in the show, so it takes time and its long hours of creation usually because you have the idea, then sometimes it doesn’t work,” Banhegyi said. “You need to go with something different that fits in the show.”

They set an original score by beatmaker Millimetric as well as featured live onstage vocals by singer Flavia Nascimento. The performance combined not only athleticism, but artistry.
