Gridiron Girls: Week 10

Audio/Story posted November 14, 2018 in CommRadio, Sports by Sports Staff

Football analysts Carolyn Sistrand and Ariel Simpson discuss week 10 of the NFL as Steph Naranjo hosts CommRadio’s first all-female football podcast, Gridiron Girls:

Sunday night we witnessed the New England Patriots fall to the Tennessee Titans with a final score of 34-10. Marcus Mariota proved to everyone why he was a former second overall pick in the draft as he threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns.

Tom Brady threw for 254 yards and no touchdowns while being sacked three times. Did the poor performance from the Patriots reveal anything about this team's Super Bowl chances?

Ezekiel Elliott seemed to start Thanksgiving a week early this past Sunday as he fed on nothing but birds, leading the Cowboys to a 4-5 record in a win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Elliott ran for 151 yards and a touchdown while Dak Prescott threw for 270 yards and one touchdown.

The Eagles continue to suffer from more than a Super Bowl hangover as they have a decimated secondary and slow offensive play. Will the Eagles have a chance as they face the New Orleans Saints in their matchup for next week?

In a game that came down to the last few minutes on Monday night, the New York Giants defeated the San Francisco 49ers 27-23. Eli Manning did what he was known to do as he led the game-winning drive, the 36th of his career, finally breaking the Giants five-game losing streak. Still lurking at the bottom of the standings, the Giants will now fall down the draft lottery.

The NFC South is a close-knit division as the Saints lead with a record of 8-1. The Panthers follow at 6-3 after a devastating loss to the Steelers. The Falcons trail behind them at 4-5 as they were not prepared for the young quarterback, Baker Mayfield, of Cleveland who “woke up feeling pretty dangerous.” Behind the Falcons stands the Buccaneers at 3-6.

Listen for our breakdown of the teams, predictions and if there are any possible wildcards.

More week 10 recaps along with week 11 predictions all on this episode of Gridiron Girls.
