Hobey Baker Watch: Week 4

Story posted October 25, 2022 in CommRadio, Sports by Anthony Desher

With another week of NCAA hockey in the books, let’s see how some of the best players from around the league are making their case for the Hobey Baker Award.

Adam Fantilli, Forward, Michigan

Adam Fantilli is leading the NCAA in points this year with 15. He’s scoring 2.5 points per game which also leads the league.

Keep in mind, he’s only a freshman and has been dominant since game one, and he’s only getting better on a team like the Wolverines.

He is projected to be a top five pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, and his stock is only going to rise if this kind of production continues.

Ture Linden, Forward, Penn State

Ture Linden has been amazing in his first season with the Nittany Lions. The senior has three goals and seven assists in six games with Penn State.

Liden scored the quickest goal in Penn State history, scoring seven seconds into the first period against the Mercyhurst Lakers.

His linemates, Kevin Wall and Ryan Kirwan have been great on the wings, but Liden is a threat as soon as he steps on the ice.

Liden is one of the main reasons why Penn State sees itself with a 6-0-0 record.

Grant Cruikshank, Forward, St. Cloud

Cruikshank leads the way for the St. Cloud State Huskies with 10 points, six of those points being goals.

The senior transferred from the University of Minnesota after scoring only 15 points in 33 games last season. This year he already has 10 points through only six games.

The Huskies are also 6-0-0 and his contributions are a big reason why.

Devon Levi, Goaltender, Northeastern

Devon Levi has been one of the best goalies in the NCAA for a couple years now. A young exciting goalie in the Buffalo Sabres organization finds his way onto this list because of his consistency.

Last year, he posted a 1.54 goals against average and a .952 save percentage. This year he is posting similar numbers with a 1.77 goals against average and a .943 save percentage.

It is only a matter of time before we see him playing for the Sabres, and with the numbers he’s been bringing every game, he could be wearing the blue and gold very soon.
