Hobey Baker Watch: Week 5

College hockey is only getting more exciting each and every week, and these players are making sure that they’re noticed every game.

Adam Fantilli, Forward, Michigan

The freshman continues to dominate for the Wolverines now scoring 18 points so far through eight games.

He still leads the league in points per game with 2.25, and his draft stock is only growing.

Michigan is now the No. 1 ranked team in the NCAA, and after losing so many key players to the NHL, this new core is getting the job done.

Massimo Rizzo, Forward, Denver

The sophomore leads the league in assists this year with 11, and with 14 points total, he finds himself second in the league in the category.

The Pioneers have always been dangerous, and with former Hobey Baker finalist Bobby Brink moving on to the NHL, Denver has another possible candidate right away.

Denver is coming off of their 9th national championship win, and repeats are tough to pull off, but with their high octane offense, the Pioneers could see that championship count reach double digits.

Jack Randl, Forward, Omaha

The senior out of Omaha is tied for most goals in the league with ten. The Mavericks aren’t off to the greatest start, but strong offensive play from Randl can help them keep up with the higher scoring team.

If Randl can keep his scoring touch consistent, don’t be surprised if NHL teams start reaching out to him for a possible contract.

Liam Souliere, Goaltender, Penn State

Let’s spice things up a little with this one. Souliere has played phenomenally well so far this season. He is a perfect 6-0 and carries an impressive .945 save percentage and 1.50 goals against average.

After backing up Oskar Autio for most of last season, the junior emerged and took over the starting job after Autio transferred to the University of Vermont.

Souliere has been a brick wall for the Nittany Lions and has been a big reason why they are off to a historic 8-0-0 start, the best start in the program’s history. He has played through injury this season, but that has not stopped him from defending the crease on a nightly basis.
