NBA Fantasy: Feb. 12
With the NBA tradeline passing, several players around the league may see their role change after being dealt to a new team or with their team acquiring new talent.
That means there are several new options on the waiver wire for fantasy basketball players to take a chance on down the stretch.
Here’s a look at the best of the bunch.
Cameron Johnson, F, BKN
Starting out with one of the biggest returning pieces in the Kevin Durant trade, Johnson has a chance at a big role with so much uncertainty in Brooklyn.
Before the trade, Johnson was averaging 13.9 points per game in 17 games with a Phoenix Suns team that had several scoring options.
The Nets were sellers at the deadline moving away many of their top-scoring options and getting younger talent like Johnson in return.
Josh Hart, G, NYK
This trade wasn’t talked about as much with many other bigger moves stealing the spotlight away but Hart was traded from the Portland Trail Blazers to the New York Knicks in a deal involving Cam Reddish.
With the Trail Blazers this season, Hart had a quietly good stat line with 9.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
Hart is still a season removed from averaging 19 points per game in 13 games played and now playing with a former college teammate in Jalen Brunson, could spark that potential in the Big Apple.
Terrence Ross, G, FA
This is a risky one.
Ross is a lockdown shooter and averages eight points a game playing in just over 22 minutes per contest, but he is a free agent.
After not finding a trade partner during the deadline, the Orlando Magic and Ross agreed to a buyout so the latter is free to sign elsewhere.
Ross has a chance to play a big role for a contender down the stretch and when he does, he could be a reliable fantasy option.
Zach Collins, F, SAS
Collins has already seen a nice role with the Spurs this season but it got even bigger it seems after the trade deadline.
The Spurs traded fellow big man Jakob Poeltl back to the Toronto Raptors which pretty much clears the way for Collins to play a few more minutes.
Collins was already putting up 9.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game on the season which should be increasing in the upcoming weeks with more playing time.
Donte DiVincenzo, G, GS
The Warriors tried and failed to add more shooting at the deadline, instead they could choose to rely on a player already on the roster for more production.
DiVincenzo is already averaging 8.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per game on the year and could be tasked to provide an extra boost as the Warriors look for back-to-back championships.
That shift could come as the Warriors were heavily rumored to go after the Raptors’ O.G. Anunoby.
