NFL Top 10: Week 1

Story posted September 16, 2022 in CommRadio, Sports by Darian Capobianco

After a long offseason, the NFL is finally back and week one did not disappoint.

The opening weekend had its fair share of craziness, and it seems as if some teams have separated themselves from the rest of the pack.

1. Buffalo Bills (1-0)

Not much explanation is needed here.

Buffalo routed the reigning Super Bowl champions on the road, and quarterback Josh Allen looked like an early favorite for MVP.

2. Kansas City Chiefs (1-0)

In their first game without electric wide receiver Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs didn’t skip beat.

Patrick Mahomes tossed five touchdowns in a dominant victory on the road over the Arizona Cardinals.

It’s safe to say, Kansas City looks as dangerous as ever.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0)

Todd Bowles’ debut as the Buccaneers head coach did not disappoint.

A dominant defensive showing led Tampa Bay to hold the Dallas Cowboys to only three points, making them the only team to not score a touchdown in week one.

4. Los Angeles Chargers (1-0)

The Chargers had a strong defensive showing against the Raiders’ highpowered offense.

Los Angeles had three interceptions, coupled with newcomer Khalil Mack racking up three of the defense’s six total sacks.

The Chargers look like they’ll be a force in the west.

5. Los Angeles Rams (0-1)

The defending Super Bowl champions definitely have a lot to figure out.

A lackluster home opener against the Buffalo Bills saw Matthew Stafford tossing a total of three interceptions in the loss.

The Rams will look to bounce back in their upcoming matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

6. Baltimore Ravens (1-0)

It looks as though Baltimore might have answered some of the question marks surrounding the wide receiver position.

Devin Duvernay caught two of the team’s three passing touchdowns, as Lamar Jackson and the Ravens soared past the New York Jets.

7. Minnesota Vikings (1-0)

Two words: Justin. Jefferson.

The star receiver hauled in nine passes for 184 yards and two scores in Minnesota’s commanding win over Green Bay.

The Vikings showed up and showed out against their divisional rival.

8. Philadelphia Eagles (1-0)

Philadelphia’s offseason additions played a huge role in a close victory over the Detroit Lions.

Cornerback James Bradberry scored on a pick-six, and AJ Brown tied his career high in receiving yards while setting the franchise record for most receiving yards in a debut.

The Eagles ended up flying high despite a comeback effort from the Lions.

9. Cincinnati Bengals (0-1)

One year removed from making it to the Super Bowl, Cincinnati lost in a nail-biting game.

There was virtually no answer for the Steelers’ defense, as quarterback Joe Burrow had a total of five turnovers and took seven sacks.

Although the Bengals were only a blocked extra point away from winning the game, there will certainly be adjustments made ahead of their upcoming matchup against the Cowboys.

10. Miami Dolphins (1-0)

Who knew there were Cheetah’s in Miami?

New wide receiver Tyreek Hill made an immediate impact in the Dolphin’s victory over the New England Patriots.

Miami showed it will be a force to be reckoned with on both sides of the ball, holding the Patriots to only seven points.
