Penn State in the NFL: Week 15 Edition

Story posted December 21, 2022 in CommRadio, Sports by Logan Bourandas

Many former Penn Staters shined in what was the week before Christmas.

Here’s a look at some of the best of the bunch.

Jahan Dotson, WR, Washington Commanders

Dotson took the Sunday Night Football spotlight and ran with it for the best game of his career.

For the first time in his career, Dotson went over 100 yards receiving with 105 on four receptions.

Dotson also found the endzone for a second consecutive game.

Both of those games happened to be against the New York Giants who ended up getting the win against Dotson’s Commanders.

Saquon Barkley, RB, New York Giants

Speaking of the Giants, let’s talk about their star running back.

Barkley picked up 87 rushing yards with a touchdown as well as 33 receiving yards in the Giants’ victory.

It was the highest rushing total for Barkley in four games and his five receptions in the win were his most since Week 1.

Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers’ offense may have faltered in the second half, but that was not on Godwin.

Godwin once again led the Buccaneers in receiving yards as he tied with Mike Evans with 83, and he also added eight receptions and a touchdown.

The wideout has shined as a top option for Tom Brady and is just over 200 yards away with three games to go from a second consecutive 1,000 yard receiving season.

Micah Parsons, LB, Dallas Cowboys

Despite the Cowboys’ overtime loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Parsons did what he could to prevent it.

Parsons collected a sack along with two tackles in the loss.

That sack was Parsons’ first in two games as he now has tied his total from last season with 13 sacks on the year.

Nick Scott, FS, Los Angeles Rams

The Rams have struggled this season and that extended onto last week against the Green Bay Packers, but Scott had one of his best games of the season.

On Monday Night Football, Scott led the Rams in tackles with nine total, seven of them being solo tackles.

Scott now has 78 total tackles on the season which is his season high by a longshot.

Trace McSorley, QB, Arizona Cardinals

It wasn’t the greatest performance in the world, but it definitely deserves a mention.

McSorley entered the game for the Cardinals after an injury to starting quarterback Colt McCoy.

He then played a majority of the game and finished with seven completions for 95 yards with two interceptions.

McSorley’s efforts weren’t enough to eke out a win against the Denver Broncos in what was the third time he’s seen action for the Cardinals this season.
