With the 177th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2023 MLB Draft, the Minnesota Twins selected Penn State shortstop Jay Harry.

Harry is what the team calls “the ultimate old-school ball player,” not only because of his old-school non-batting gloves look but his heart and grit towards the game.

After three seasons with the program under former head coach Rob Cooper, the Metuchen, New Jersey, native started 145 game starts while notching a .304 average, 169 hits, 81 RBI and 109 runs.

His junior campaign was one of his best as he hit .299, tallying 60 hits, 37 RBI, 47 runs, including six home runs in 50 games played.

Harry’s draft selection ensures the Nittany Lions have a player selected in the past three MLB drafts. He's also the 13th Penn State baseball player drafted under former head coach Rob Cooper’s tenure with the program.
