Wooden Watch Wagers: Week 12
The following article contains information that is not representative of the opinions of CommRadio. It solely expresses the opinions of Jasper Abrahams.
It seems like Zach Edey is running away with the Wooden Award, but here are two players that could sneak up to him as conference play continues.
Zach Edey, Purdue
Zach Edey is college basketball’s most dominant player, and there’s nothing teams can do to stop him. Edey, 7-foot-4, lives in the paint and dominates opposing defenses. The Purdue center is averaging 21.3 points, 13.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Edey has recorded a double-double in 15 out of the Boilermakers’ 19 games this season.
Edey is currently -350 to take home the Wooden Award on BetMGM Sportsbook.
Jalen Wilson, Kansas
Jalen Wilson is leading No. 2 ranked Kansas to another potential deep March Madness push. The junior from Denton, TX is putting up 20.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Wilson is coming off arguably the best game of his career with 38 points and 9 rebounds in a heartbreaking road loss against No. 13 Kansas State.
If you’re feeling risky, Jalen Wilson at +800 could be a smart wager if Edey falls into a slump
Brandon Miller, Alabama
If you guessed a freshman from the SEC would be in contention for a Wooden Award race in January, then you would be correct. No insider, no analyst and certainly no fans would have expected Brandon Miller to dominate, and I mean dominate, the SEC conference. At 6-foot-9, Miller has led the Crimson Tide as the No. 4 team in the nation. Miller currently posts 20.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
Miller is currently at +1400 odds.
