Players to Start This Week
Aaron Jones, RB, Green Bay Packers
It was a rough week for the Packers in Week 6, as the offense put up only 10 points in a blowout loss against the red-hot Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Tampa Bay defense held Aaron Jones to just 15 yards on 10 carries for a touchdown a week ago, as the Bucs defense has been one of the best in the league. Now playing a completely opposite defense in the Texans, Jones should have a bounceback performance, as the Texans rank 30th in points allowed this season.
Logan Thomas, TE, Washington Football Team
If Thomas plays, this is a must-start. Thomas is currently questionable with a neck injury, but if he is good to go, he is going up against the awful Dallas Cowboys defense. Thomas is coming off a three-catch game for 42 yards and a touchdown against the Giants. That touchdown was Thomas’ first since week one against the Eagles, but the Cowboys defense is coming off a horrific performance against the Arizona Cardinals.
Matthew Stafford and Matt Ryan, QBs, Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons
Stafford and Ryan are grouped together, as they are both gunslinging quarterbacks matched up against each other. The Falcons offense is ranked second in pass yards per game, and although the Lions are ranked 22nd in that same category, the Falcons allow the second most total yards per game. Both teams are coming off huge wins, and know they need this win to salvage any sort of playoff hopes that they may have. As such, both quarterbacks should be slinging the ball all day.
Players to Sit This Week
Any Chiefs Running Back
This week is going to show what kind of role both rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire and the newly signed Le’Veon Bell will have going forward. Edwards-Helaire is coming off arguably the best game of his career with 161 yards on the ground, but with Bell now on the roster, the newcomer is sure to take some of the rookie’s carries away. At best, these two are flex options this week.
David Montgomery, RB, Chicago Bears
It’s been a rough start to the year for Montgomery, as he only has 305 rushing yards and one touchdown through the first six games. He has been making up for it in the pass game, but the second-year back hasn’t been able to break out on the ground. Playing against Aaron Donald and the Rams, which sits at fourth best in yards allowed in the NFL, this is not the week to expect Montgomery to break out.
Waiver Wire
Antonio Brown, WR, Free Agent
Even though he’s not playing right now and hasn’t in well over a year, this is the only week you’re going to be able to pick him up. Brown’s eight-week suspension will end next week, and according to sources, many teams, including the Seattle Seahawks, are interested in picking him up. Brown worked out with Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson during the summer, so they do have a friendship. This will be your best and probably only chance all year to pick up an elite wide receiver for free.
