CommRadio 2022 NFL Mock Draft 3.0

Story posted April 20, 2022 in CommRadio, Sports by CommRadio Sports Staff

CommRadio’s NFL Experts take their crack at predicting how the first round of the NFL Draft could fall in just a few weeks!

1) Jaguars: Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE, Michigan

Travon Walker’s size and athleticism could warrant a conversation in the war room here, but Hutchinson is as close to a sure thing as there is in this draft class at a premier position. - Jakob Schnur

2) Lions: Travon Walker, EDGE, Georgia

For their first selection from their pair of day-one picks, Detroit opts to upgrade their defensive line grandly with Travon Walker, one of the most versatile players in the draft. - Darian Capobianco

3) Texans: Evan Neal, OL, Alabama

Houston ends up receiving some much-needed offensive line help with Evan Neal. The big-bodied offensive tackle should provide an immediate impact in both the run and pass game. - Darian Capobianco

4) Jets: Jermaine Johnson, EDGE, Florida State

Gang Green decides to add a compliment to a returning Carl Lawson as the two will look to form one of the most formidable pass-rushing duos the franchise has had in over a decade and a half. - Dylan Price

5) Giants: Ikem Ekwonu, OL, NC State

The Giants have been looking for offensive line help for what feels like forever. Ekwonu is the easy pick here as a plug-and-play right tackle with the versatility to kick inside as well. - Jakob Schnur

6) Panthers: Malik Willis, QB, Liberty

With question marks surrounding Sam Darnold, Carolina elects to roll the dice and select their potential quarterback of the future. -Darian Capobianco

7) Giants: Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon

Thibodeaux is one of the most prolific pass rushers in this class, and one of the most talented prospects in the class as a whole, the Giants walk out of the draft with two studs and an immediate influx of talent in the trenches on both sides of the ball. - Dylan Price

8) Falcons: Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State

This season is all but a wash for the Falcons, they can give Mariota the shot to reclaim his potential this season at QB and look to 2023 to make a move in that draft if they so, please. Here, they add another weapon for this season and the foreseeable future. - Dylan Price

9) Seahawks: Charles Cross, OL, Mississippi State

The Seahawks could look to find a Russell Wilson replacement, but couple a weak quarterback class with a glaring need at left tackle and Cross makes too much sense here as the best pass protector in the draft. - Jakob Schnur

10) Jets: Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner, CB, Cincinnati

With their second selection in the first round, the Jets bolster their secondary. Sauce Gardner has never allowed a touchdown throughout his collegiate career, and will look to keep up his streak in New York. - Darian Capobianco

11) Commanders: Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame

The Commanders make their first official pick in team history by selecting the best player on the board. Hamilton might be the best overall player in the draft, and Washington is in desperate need of a playmaker in the back end after the departure of Landon Collins. - Jameson Kramer

12) Vikings: Derek Stingley Jr., CB, LSU

The team could use an influx of talent at cornerback, and if Stingley can return to full health with the Vikings this could be a steal, as he was, at one point, regarded as the clear-cut top cornerback in this draft class. - Dylan Price

13) Texans: Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington

With rumors that the Texans have serious interest in Sauce Gardner, it is clear that they want to prioritize secondary in this draft. McDuffie, while slightly undersized, is one of the cleanest prospects in this class and has the versatility to be elite in both man and zone coverage. - Jakob Schnur

14) Ravens: Andrew Booth Jr., CB, Clemson

The Ravens will certainly prioritize depth in the secondary, after last season’s injury bug. Booth provides Baltimore with some much-needed insurance, and can easily step into whatever role the team asks of him. - Darian Capobianco

15) Eagles: Nakobe Dean, LB, Georgia

The Eagles add some much-needed linebacker help in Dean. Dean was the centerpiece of the best defense in the nation last year, and he should seamlessly fit into the Philadelphia scheme. - Jameson Kramer

16) Saints: Trevor Penning, OT, Northern Iowa

The team could have looked quarterback here, but Penning is a ferocious force who can grow to be a franchise left tackle in replacement of Terron Armstead. - Dylan Price

17) Chargers: Jordan Davis, DT, Georgia

The Chargers would probably like to go offensive tackle here, but with the top four off the board, they take the best player available in Jordan Davis as they continue their defensive rehaul that began in free agency. - Jakob Schnur

18) Eagles: Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama

With their second pick in the first round, the Eagles opt for an upgrade on the offensive side of the ball. Jameson Willilams should fit perfectly into Philadelphia’s scheme, and will provide them with an immediate threat across from fellow former Alabama receiver Devonta Smith. - Darian Capobianco

19) Saints: Drake London, WR, USC

The Saints stay put and grab what many believe is the best wide reciever in the draft. The Saints need another playmaker to compliment Micheal Thomas on the outside, and London fits the bill. - Jameson Kramer

20) Steelers: Kenny Pickett, QB, Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh product stays home and will look to be the successor to Steeler legend Ben Roethlisberger. - Dylan Price

21) Patriots: Zion Johnson, OL, Boston College

With the trade of Shaq Mason to the Buccaneers, the Patriots have a hole at guard. Johnson is technically sound, experienced and versatile which are three things Bill Belichick values highly in his players. - Jakob Schnur

22) Packers: George Karlaftis, EDGE, Purdue

With their first of two selections in the first round, Green Bay lands arguably one of the best defensive talents in the draft. While receiver was an option, it would be hard to pass up a versatile player like Karlaftis here. - Darian Capobianco

23) Cardinals: Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah

Arizona has several holes on the defensive side of the ball, and they go with the best overall over a specific position. Lloyd and Simmons will provide a dynamic playmaking duo for the Cardinals. - Jameson Kramer

24) Cowboys: Kenyon Green, OL, Texas A&M

With La’El Collins out the door, the offensive line could use another piece, and Green, the aggressive lineman from A&M will look to slot in and provide more protection for the Cowboys. - Dylan Price

25) Bills: Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State

While receiver isn’t their biggest need, the value with Olave here is too good to pass up. He’ll step in on day one and replace the losses of Cole Beasley and Emmanuel Sanders to bolster one of the league’s best offenses. - Jakob Schnur

26) Titans: Devonte Wyatt, DT, Georgia

Wyatt becomes the third Georgia defensive lineman to be selected in the first round, and for good reason. His disruptive nature will certainly provide an immediate upgrade for Tennessee in the trenches. - Darian Capobianco

27) Buccaneers: Tyler Linderbaum, C, Iowa

With the departure of several interior offensive linemen, the Bucs provide some much-needed protection for the 45-year-old Tom Brady. - Jameson Kramer

28) Packers: Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn State

Dotson will join Sammy Watkins and Allen Lazard to give Aaron Rodgers, a formidable trio of receivers, and while there’s no more Davantae Adams for the Packers, Rodgers will still have a good arsenal of weapons heading into his 18th season. - Dylan Price

29) Chiefs: George Pickens, WR, Georgia

The loss of Tyreek Hill makes wide receiver an obvious need on this Chiefs team. Pickens has the size, speed and hands to project as a number one receiver at the next level. - Jakob Schnur

30) Chiefs: Jaquan Brisker, S, Penn State

Kansas City continues their offseason overhaul of the secondary with Jaquan Brisker. The versatile former Nittany Lion gives the Chiefs a true defensive weapon, as he can cover deep, play in the slot and can even slide into the box if necessary. - Darian Capobianco

31) Bengals: Arnold Ebikeite, EDGE, Penn State

The Bengals had a tough time getting pressure on the QB during last year's playoff run, and Ebikeite showed amazing consistency during his senior season at Penn State. The duo of Hendrickson and Ebikeite gives the Bengals a formidable pass rush to complement their secondary. - Jameson Kramer

32) Lions: Matt Corral, QB, Ole Miss

The addition of Corral will give Dan Campbell his signal-caller to mold for the future, and Corral can comfortably sit behind Jared Goff while he continues to return from injury. - Dylan Price
