UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. —  Two-time Emmy and WGA award-winning writer, actor and comedian John Mulaney came to Happy Valley on Sunday with his ‘From Scratch’ tour.

Mulaney tacklds heavy issues in his new set. He included jokes about rehab as he has struggled with past issues related to drugs and alcohol. However, he shared his stories in a light-hearted way that the audience loved.

“When he talked about when he was going through his GQ interview that he didn’t remember. I thought it was really funny how he just had real life events that he put into his show,” Jack Dempsky, sophomore majoring in finance said.

At the end of his set, Mulaney read parts of an interview he had given with GQ magazine while he was high on cocaine. The interview was humorous which was a fitting way to conclude his show.

Mulaney also personalized his show to make it more intimate with the audience.

“I love Pennsylvania, but he called out Reading so no offense Reading, but I was dying laughing,” Camille Conard, junior majoring in animal science said.

John Mulaney’s ‘From Scratch’ tour will be running until February 2023.
