Penn State’s Barney Amor wins Big Ten Special Teams player of the Week

posted October 3, 2022 in

Penn State came into Saturday’s matchup scoring over 30 points in its first four contests, but it relied on its special team’s play to get the job done over Northwestern.

The Nittany Lions came away with a 17-7 victory over the Wildcats, and punter Barney Amor picked up Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week.

The Doylestown, Pennsylvania, native registered five punts for 200 yards, averaging 40.0 yards per attempt, while he landed four inside the 20, including three inside the 10.

On the season, 14 of Amor's 23 punts have landed inside the 20, including 12 punts inside the 10.

The blue and white have had one player capture a Big Ten weekly award for the past five weeks, and it’s the first time this year it has won special teams player of the week.

The last time a Penn Stater won the award was Jordan Stout on Sept. 22, 2021, and this is Amor’s first ever weekly award.
