Maddie Brightman
Senior / Broadcast Journalism and Spanish
Maddie Brightman is the General Manger of ComRadio and a reporter and producer for the Centre County Report. A member of the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism, Maddie was recently a part of reporting trips to Cuba and Super Bowl 50. At ComRadio, she also serves as a producer for multiple Penn State sports has done play by play for Penn State football, baseball and lacrosse.
Maddie has interned at ESPN, Fox Sports Radio (Los Angeles), WBAL-TV (Baltimore) and 105.7 the Fan (Baltimore). John McHugh
Senior / Broadcast Journalism
A Long Island native, John McHugh has known that he wanted to pursue sports broadcasting from a young age. Since then he has seized every opportunity he can, coming to Penn State and doing extensive work with ComRadio and other campus media organizations.
In addition to play-by-play, beat writing, and podcasting at ComRadio, John is currently the host of The Fast Lane, Penn State’s only NASCAR talk show, and ComRadio Country Countdown.
In the professional world, John has interned in the Sports Department and News 12 Long Island, in the news department at Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia in the summer of 2016. He has also written for the Automobile Association of America (AAA) Northeast’s website and Car and Travel magazine for the past three summers.
Jack Milewski
Sophomore / Broadcast Journalism
Jack Milewski is a sophomore majoring in broadcast journalism. He is a member of com radio’s sports team and helps to produce broadcasts as well as announcing multiple sporting events. He also produces written content and podcasts for the website. To go along with his involvement in com radio, Jack is also an intern at gopsusports.com. He covers the women’s hockey team and produces written content for the website. Jack is also the voice of Penn State Women’s Volleyball and travels with the team to cover all of their matches. Jack hopes to become a play-by-play man for a big market hockey team in the future.
Mandy Bell
Senior / Broadcast Journalism
Mandy Bell is a senior from Chambersburg, PA, majoring in broadcast journalism and minoring in English. She has served as a digital media intern with Little League International and an associate reporter for MLB.com based in Baltimore. While in CommRadio, Mandy has done play-by-play announcing for Penn State baseball, softball and basketball teams; written for baseball, basketball and football; and has produced for multiple sporting events, including the 2017 Rose Bowl. Mike D'Avella
Senior / Broadcast Journalism
Mike D’Avella is a senior from West Chester, Pa., majoring in broadcast journalism with a minor in business. He is a sports director, producer, play-by-play voice, talk show personality and beat writer on the sports side of CommRadio. Mike is also a member of the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism. He has completed internships with the Philadelphia Phillies in the summers of 2014 and 2015, MLB.com Advanced Media in the spring of 2016, the State College Spikes Minor League baseball production department in the summer of 2016 and Interscope Records in Santa Monica, California. He is also the drummer in a State College based Alternative Rock band called “The New Feel” who has performed at venues such as the Bryce Jordan Center. Mike plans to pursue a career in sports media or the entertainment industry in the hopes of becoming a producer or radio personality for a sports or music station. John Petrolias
Junior / Broadcast Journalism
John Petrolias is a member of the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism, and is a play-by-play broadcaster and producer for men’s hockey content, as well as the host/founder of Pittsburgh Sound—Happy Valley’s only Pittsburgh sports talk show. Petrolias has previously covered the men’s hockey team for The Daily Collegian, covers Penn State football for PennLive.com and has interned at the Pittsburgh Penguins, Penn State Athletics/BTN Live Student U production, as well as the Allegheny Intermediate Unit’s PR department in Pittsburgh. John aspires to be an on-air journalist or play-by-play broadcaster for a news/sports outlet and plans to go to law school to become a media and First Amendment attorney.

Ryan Berti

David Arroyo
Senior / Broadcast Journalism
David Arroyo currently serves as one of two General Managers for CommRadio. David is a former arts & entertainment director, social media director and editor for the station. He has produced for multiple Penn State sports while in CommRadio, has done play by play for Penn State sporting events such as football, basketball and volleyball and co-hosted and produced his own talk show. During the fall of 2017, David was an anchor, producer and reporter for the Centre County Report. David most recently interned at WPVI-TV, 6abc in Philadelphia during the summer of 2018. While at 6abc he was a programing intern and helped in the production of their weekly show “FYI Philly.” David has interned at B94.5 (State College) and Center City Film and Video (Philadelphia). Brandon Pelter
Senior / Broadcast Journalism
Brandon Pelter is a senior from Somers, New York. During his time with CommRadio, Brandon has served as an editor and Sports Director, and currently serves as the station’s general manager. For the past two summers, Brandon interned as a play-by-play broadcaster with the YD Red Sox of the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League. He formerly interned with Westwood One Sports. George Stockburger
Senior / Journalism
George is currently a student at The Pennsylvania State University studying Broadcast Journalism. He was accepted into the Curley Center for Sports Journalism, and is an active member in the College of Communications radio station.
During his time at Penn State, George covered college football, the NFL, college hockey, and college baseball.
In 2016, George provided play-by-play and color analysis for multiple Penn State sports, including football, mens hockey, and womens hockey for ComRadio.
George currently works for Fansided Inc. as an editor/expert for “NFL Mocks” covering the NFL, College Football, and NFL Draft. He holds the same title for Fansided’s Philadelphia Phillies site “That Ball’s Outta Here.” Throughout the 2016 football season, George published two weekly columns for Fansided.com.
Previously, he interned for Scout Media, Inc. during the summer of 2016 in Seattle, Washington, where he wrote columns, produced videos, and covered The Opening Football camp at the Nike World Headquarters.
Morganne Mallon
Senior / Broadcast Journalism and International Politics
Morganne is a director for the Centre County Report. She additionally serves as an executive producer and director for 46 LIVE, the live THON webcast, and the multimedia producer for The Daily Collegian, Penn State’s independent student newspaper. She has previously interned at CNN, Penn State Athletics and PennLive.com. Morganne aspires to work in television or video production when she graduates in May 2017.
