Gridiron Girls: Episode 9

Audio/Story posted November 7, 2018 in CommRadio, Sports by Sports Staff

Football analysts Carolyn Sistrand and Ariel Simpson discuss week nine of the NFL as Steph Naranjo hosts CommRadio’s first all-female football podcast, Gridiron Girls:

Sunday night the Los Angeles Rams couldn’t find anything luck in The Big Easy, as they fall from their unbeaten title in a loss to the New Orleans Saints. Jared Goff led his team back from a 35-17 deficit to tie it up in the fourth quarter.

However, he couldn't finish the job as the Saints continued on their seven-game win streak. With another exciting win came an even more exciting touchdown celebration by Saint’s wide receiver, Michael Thomas, channeling his inner Joe Horn.

With the build-up of the Michael Jordan commercial, this Aaron Rodgers versus Tom Brady matchup was surely going to be the game to watch. New England defeated Green Bay 31-17 with both quarterbacks game states looking nearly identical as Brady threw for 294 yards and one touchdown, and Rodgers throwing for 259 yards and two touchdowns. However, Green Bay continues to get in its own way as it suffered yet another costly fumble, similar to last week's Ty Montgomery miscue.

Monday Night Football was the battle between two young quarterbacks, Marcus Mariota and Dak Prescott, as the Tennessee Titans defeated the Dallas Cowboys 28-14. Mariota threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns, while Prescott threw for 243 yards, two touchdowns but had another big turnover.

However, all eyes were on Amari Cooper as he made his official debut as a Cowboy. It looked as if it were going to be an exciting night for Cowboy fans as Cooper received the first touchdown of the game and finished with five catches for 58 yards. However, they only walked away with another loss.

The NFC West seems to be a walk in the park for the Rams as they lead the division with a record of 8-1. The Seahawks follow at 4-4, while the Cardinals and 49ers trail behind at 2-6 and 2-7, respectively. Listen for our breakdown of the teams, predictions and if there are any possible wildcards.
